Nostalgia and Neurosis and High School

I try very hard and sometimes very unsuccessfully to not live in the past.  Learn from the past but not relive the past.  I have a few bits of nostalgia here and there.  I miss college A LOT.  I do not however party with Fraternity brothers on the weekends.  Well...crap...Dave technically is/was in a Fraternity but anyway that's besides the point....and we don't party...we try to catch up on sleep.  I enjoyed college but looking back now I cannot imagine I would have the same level of tolerance for the college lifestyle.  We may create a certain fondness for the memories and I miss the emotional attachments I had back then but I don't really want to 'go back there.'  That's a terrifying thought.  Sophomore year would be hell to relive.  I learned a little too much that year.  Grew up a bit more than I wanted to at the time.  Oh and the purposefully ripped jeans were not a fashion style I ever plan on re experiencing.  Anyway I've been thinking about sophomore year a lot recently maybe you all will hear more about that later....not today....

Today I want to drift back father to High School.

HIGH SCHOOL WAS NOT COOL.

I look at all my younger family members on Facebook and see their fun party pictures from high school and do have a twinge of jealousy.  I wasn't really allowed to do much socializing in high school.  I do have fond memories but most of them did not take place outside of school or school related functions....

I wonder where I'm going with this thought process today.....lets see....

I have a few remaining bits and pieces left over from high school...A few yearbooks...a classic and overly cliche dried boutonniere from some dance that of course was well chaperoned by adults.  One of my favorite things from high school is a sweatshirt that says Perry Football on it in small letters in the corner.  It's light gray and my parents bought it for me my Freshman year of high school.  This sweatshirt is almost 15 years old.  (I had to count on my fingers for that one).  Regardless I do still wear this sweatshirt and here's the whole point are you ready for it......

NOT IN PUBLIC!

Seriously the thing is older than some of my family members.  It's almost as old as my SIL!  AND its from HIGH SCHOOL.  Sometimes I wear it to clean toilets!  Why on earth would someone feel the need so strongly that they need to wear things from high school?  I have no words.....actually as you can see I have plenty but when did that knock any ones pants off!

I saw a girl from my school proudly wearing a big ole Perry sweatshirt.  Now I wasn't a huge fan of high school but I did go to a really great high school.  Please don't let my message diminish the wonderful memories and outstanding education some of my classmates received from Perry.  Even if that was me...I still wouldn't be sporting the sweatshirt....

I feel like I have more to say on this subject but I'm starting to doubt the importance and relevance....so here I stop.

Right here....

I'm done now....

Bye!
