She's like a freakin parrot.

Me: Do you want an Elmo birthday cake or Mickey Mouse?
Bebes: Mowouse.
Me: Do you want Mickey Mouse or Elmo?
Bebes: mElmo.
Me: For your birthday cake do you want Elmo or Mickey Mouse?
Bebes: Mowouse.
Me: Do you like Mickey Mouse?
Bebes: Mowouse.
Me: Or Elmo?
Bebes: mElmo.

The unlikeliness of a Christmas tree in the Old Testament

My child is 727 days old.  She's 1 year, 11 months and 28 days old...shes 23 months and 28 days old.  She's almost two.  This post has nothing to do with that.

My child LOVES to pray.  Now I realize she's almost 2 and doesn't really understand what we are doing but I kid you not......after "ball" "dada" and "mama" her next word was "am-ennn." My kid is a Christian rock star in the prayer world and she has NO IDEA what shes doing.

It started out with us praying at dinner, she would hold hands with us and she thought it was a game to say aaaaamen at the end of holding our hands with our eyes closed.  Then she decided she was too cool to pray with us so after we prayed and we started eating...she THEN wanted to pray.....we'd stop everything and pray with her.

We'll be sitting on the couch and she'll grab my  hands and close her eyes.  Also she is SOOO a peeker.  She can't make it through a prayer without peeking to see what the rest of us are doing.  I know this...because I'm a peeker.

We pray before we go to bed and we talk about the blessings in our life and I regularly ask her what shes thankful for.  The answer is usually mElmo or mmmmmouse (Mickey Mouse).  I guess I'll just take what I can get.

Now I realize the hypocrisy here but I am regularly thinking "I'm an awesome mom...my kid prays" which totally defeats the purpose but still....I'm kinda proud.

Last week Dave and I were at Costco and if you know us...we don't share so if I get something he has to get something and we are very childish.  We were walking through books and I thought...HEY...maybe the bebes might want something to.  (I'm so generous? or something?) and we picked her up a book on Noah's Ark.  It has these wooden animal pieces and you can fit them like a puzzle throughout the book...really spiffy.  We got her a simple book with no bells and whistles around Easter that was the story of Noah and she seemed mildly interested so I thought this would be great.

Over the last few days every time we read the book she grabs Noah and goes "Ho Ho Ho!"  EVERY TIME. I think so as to not confuse her further...Santa will never be bringing her a puppy....I mean...we wouldn't want that...I love making up rational excuses for things.

So while I may think I'm awesome mom and my kid is praying and shes interested in bible stories...at the end of the day...shes still focused on Santa...

Sorry kid...Noah hung out on a boat...Santa hung out on a sled.  White beard does not equal Santa.  White beard equals old man.

I guess my child at the ripe old age of 2...still hasn't grasped the finer nuances of biblical study.  I'm pretty sure Santa didn't show up in the old testament or the new.  I mean...I'll double check...but it's unlikely.

Do I need to be prettier? The bebes may think so.

Our child comes to wake us up every single morning.  If we are lucky its around 6:30.  Normally its between 3am and 5:45.  On an average day Dave stumbles out of bed, walks her back to her room...covers her up and closes her door.  This usually allows us an additional 5-10 minutes of sleep...or a shower in some semblance of peace and calm.  The bebes on the other hand is usually in her room...curled up in bed...talking to her feet.  Shes 2..has no siblings and we clearly don't encourage socialization...therefore...her feet are her friends...judge away!

Normally we don't close her door till shes come in our room and has attempted to wake us up.  Dave and I recently switched sides of the bed...because I am my mother...and when our child tries to wake me up...it results in me jumping from a horizontal position a good 2 feet in the air...and a loud yell which doesn't yield a calm relaxed response in my bedroom.  So now...I usually sleep right through her waking up her father.  I'm a bad spouse like that.

Mornings when I am slightly awake to witness her ritual, I get the adorable treat of watching her getting Daddy out of bed.  Every morning she comes in and helps us get out of bed so we can play with her.  She hands us our glasses in a manner that is in no way helpful and usually results in an 'ouch thats my eyeball' and then she hands us our iPhones....that right there should tell you a little about the day to day happenings in my home.  She understands we need to communicate and see.  Good job bebe goobs.

This morning she managed to make it past Dave around the bed over to my side.  I'm passed out cold on sinus meds (Dave was too for that matter...we are both fighting something...at least it's not each other? lol) so I didn't wake with a jolt.  All I feel is this poking of my eyeballs. My glasses are magically being put on.  I open my eyes and smile cause shes just ridiculously cute.  She hands me my phone and then today...she decided I needed to start my day with more stuff.  A head band...and then two bottles of nail polish.

What seriously concerns me here is whether she's just trying to be helpful or if shes suggesting I might need a little help...in the pretty area.  I lay in bed this morning with a phone, glasses, teal polish, pink polish, goody brand headband and had I not stopped it who knows what else.

Part of me can't wait for her to speak in full sentences....part of me is terrified as to what those sentences will be.  Judgement or praise.  Help or suggestions of self help.  I can only wonder.  I am however just really pleased that I'm mani/pedi ready at a moments notice today.  Except I hate feet.  Now I'm off topic.

Bubye now.

I was CONSTANTLY getting scolded as a child in regards to chewing on things and putting nonfood items in my mouth...I'll ruin my teeth etc etc....

So this is me... apparently not scolding my child...cause I really just think its cute.

Not Wednesday, not Thursday, but TUESDAY. Thanks

So I've changed the names and the dates in this post..but if the person who wrote it ever finds it...they'll know it was them...I'm just THAT passive aggressive.

A few years ago I got married.  I know it's crazy like that....and I invited friends to my wedding and lots of family and it was a lovely time.  When I was working on the invitations I sent one out to my guy friend and his fiancée.  Lets just call them Mike and Becky...cause heck...I'm so creative with my made up names.

So I had never met Becky and Mike and I had known each other about 5-6 years and we actually hung out a lot in college and he was a great guy and I wanted him to be part of my wedding day.  INVITED.  He met this girl after college so I was never part of their relationship, didn't know much about it.  I was happy he was bringing her...I hadn't talked to him about his wedding I didn't know the date of it...so when I received their RSVP it said Mr & Mrs Mikes Last Name were attending and wanted the fish....I was a bit floored.

WOAH THEY GOT MARRIED? I was shocked, because I thought we were close and I was really bummed I hadn't been invited to the wedding, and heck its okay...at the end of the day I was just glad they were coming.  Maybe I could make a more concentrated effort in the future to be their friends, I clearly had missed an important part of my friends life and maybe I had let our friendship slip and I felt bad...

UNTIL MY WEDDING DAY.

Now there was a lot of drama on my wedding day...none of which (ask my friends) was coming from the bride or the groom....which was nice....but we get married (yippee) and we get to the reception and my friend Mike comes up to me with the new wife and introduces her as his fiancée.  At this point I am CLEARLY CONFUSED.

Maybe in my whole rush of getting married in 5 months I just missed something, maybe I was just confused about how they RSVP'ed, maybe I was just crazy.  But because I had nothing better to do at my wedding reception I sought out the seating chart, and then the printed table settings and in fact there it was again "Mr and Mrs Mikes Last Name!"  So clearly I was not totally insane...they had responded that way.

Now I am SUPER superstitious in like 3 areas...men, marriage and pregnancy.  I don't mess with that karma....seriously.  Theres a reason I have a semi stable home life and a semi normal kid...I don't announce things that haven't happened.  I didn't preemptively call myself a Mrs. I dont go around saying I'm a mom of two...cause CLEARLY I'm a mom of one.  I also wouldn't reply to a formal event with a name that was not mine.

WEIRD.

So I let it pass...(clearly I'm so good at letting things go? haha) and a few months later I get their wedding invite, phew I'm invited, I didn't miss my friends life changing event, I'm only a little crazy...except its not me thats crazy.......

Dave and I were not sure if we were going to be able to make it to the wedding so I was holding off sending in the RSVP till we were sure.  I had the date the RSVP needed to be sent back by on my calendar.  I just didn't want to say we would be there and then not show up.  I KNOW how annoying that can be, I had a few people do that at my wedding.  (and no I'm not talking about dear friends of ours who let us know and were unable to make it...you guys...you're all cool...I'm talking about the jerks who rsvp'ed and I STILL have yet to talk to them...4 years later...) again...I'm sooo good at letting things go haha.

So I waited a bit and then about a week before the RSVP's needed to be back in the brides hands I get this email....

So I know sending a mass email is totally tacky, but as of today,
3/20/2007, I have not received an RSVP for our wedding from you. You
can verbally tell me you are not coming(or through email), but if you
are coming, please send me the card. It is due by next Tuesday. Yes,
Tuesday, as in 3/27/2007. Not Wednesday, not Thursday, but TUESDAY.
Thanks,
Becky

Now I'm sorry if I'm just prude or too uptight or way too Emily Post but THAT right there my friends is RUDE.

1. No "Hello, Hi, Sorry to be a bit forward and snotty but" just jump right in and rip us all a new one.
2. I am not 100% sure if the bride got the memo but this is a WEDDING not a kegger.  How dare you talk to people you invited that way.
3. You admit you're being tacky...and you don't care? Wow...Glad my friend married you.
4. If you REALLY needed the information sooner, then you should have moved your RSVP date up.
5. This email was sent to my student email account at a school people didn't know I was attending, aka she had to search the internet for it....stalker creepy.
6. This girl met me ONCE...at my own wedding...and felt at that point it was okay to talk to me this way. This email went to a large group, I hope for her sake it didn't go to my friends grandparents or older relatives, because while I was ticked, I cannot imagine being that horrendously rude to my elders.
7.  Planning a wedding is VERY stressful, it can often bring out a not so pleasant side of ones self.  I fully concede that, but that email was thoughtless and I would be deeply embarrassed if I were her.

So at the time of the email, I was SO OFFENDED...I did not respond.  AT ALL.  I have to say looking back I totally stand by it, I was very offended by someone I don't know well, and clearly she had no problem talking to me that way and I knew if I had responded I would have been condescending and snotty....so I just didn't respond.

To this day I have yet to speak to either my friend or his wife.  Not because I'm angry or because of that email but because we've both moved in different directions, we have separate lives with separate spouses and we don't have much in common anymore.  I'm sad I didn't go to his wedding  because I know it was important to him and I wanted to be a supportive friend.  I'm glad hes happily married (I hope) but WOW that lady is CRAZY.

I also have learned that as polite and PC as I try to be...I'm really just CRAZY PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE....most people just think I'm nice... apparently they are wrong? lol

Wordless Weekend

I'm busy...

Not in general but right now I'm busy...I'm busy keeping my external hard drive "on" while using the computer because I'm uploading 705 photos to Snapfish...and if I don't keep using the computer my hard drive will turn off because as brilliant as we are over here, we cant manage to keep it on.  So here I am...being busy...typing....

I'm working on uploading a large selection of the Bebes year two photos so that when her birthday rolls around I'll have her photo book almost ready to go.  This year we aren't making one for the families/grandmas just for us...but I would like to get it done in a timely fashion...so I figure I can get it all uploaded and work on it anywhere...

40 of 705....its 9:11pm.....

This week has been downright insane...I'm exhausted from it.  It might also not help that I've been on and off sugar highs for the past few days due to that Easter Bunny visiting...stupid bunny..."he" I think its a he..but heck who am I kidding I made him up...I guess I can give him whatever gender I want...anyway HE bought way too much candy this year...and I....the female HE ate too much....

I think I may be confusing you all with my gender...akkkkward....

Anyway...while we sit here...lets just talk about the fact that one of my cats is passed out...ON my cute pink Coach wristlet..which in all honesty our child has claimed as her own because its the perfect size for a 'toddler purse' her sense of fashion is so on...I worry by the time she gets to kindergarten she'll be carrying a Kate Spade book bag...Heaven forbid they even create those.......

While I'm uploaded and sorting all these photos I've got the SAPPIEST STINKIN MUSIC on...its making me all "What a beautiful life I have" blah blah blah.  Good thing Dave's playing video games or I'd make him get all sappy with me...except he never gets sappy.  Theres something to be said about iTunes on shuffle and chronologically going through photos watching your child grow up that is all.....well...ANNOYINGLY EMOTIONAL....

Nick Drake: One of These Things First
Coldplay: The Scientist (whole other emotional sappiness with that song)

While I don't think of this as sappy....
Vertical Horizon: Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)
GOOD GRIEF that song sounds so pretty when your shuffling through your child learning how to put shoes on in slow motion....and then helping her Daddy whisk eggnog at Christmas.  FORGET THIS...it's ruining my street cred...except I cry at the drop of the hat and my street is really just a residential suburban circle with very average people on it and I'm sure they don't think I have street cred either.

Oh....Save Me by Unwritten Law...at least I'm not all "Precious" and "Touched" cause I'm soo over that...I'm totally rockin out...in a dark room...by myself.....I'm very cool......Promise....

"I went to Heaven...couldn't get in...for what I have done....I said forsake me he said your crazy you were too much fun"

I should totally switch to watching last Mondays episode of Chuck on Hulu...cause "OMG" Chuck and Sara finally got together THANK GOODNESS.....if you actually believed me when I tried to convince you that I wasnt sappy earlier...you should DOWNRIGHT KNOW I'M LYING when I say I was totally cool watching Chuck on Monday cause THEY ARE SOOOO MADE FOR EACH OTHER.  It was by far my favorite episode.  I did not handle their happiness well.  I balled...I was so excited.

Dave gets mad at me cause I don't cry at real life situations.  Happy, sad....crushing.... ecstatic....nope...but you put a 30 minute show on...heck you put an emotionally charged commercial on TV and I'm HOPELESS....balling.  I cry over SciFi a lot...I CANNOT make it through the first 10 minutes of Star Trek...when Kirks father sacrifices himself I draw parallels to my own life (yes...I do...I mean...it's normal right) and I loose it...not like a little crying...like I LOOOOSE IT...I can't handle it it's so sad.  Kirk has to grow up without a solid father figure...I mean cause clearly that guy on the cell phone who married his mom... doesn't seem super cool.

Oh heck I just hit Easter photos and Lifesong- And Now My Lifesong Sing.  Here I go again!  Bring me a little aggressive punk rock....cause The goobs looks SO CUTE in her Easter dress and she came home from church with her 'He is Risen' picture which clearly she colored well at her 23 months and 16 days of existence on this earth.  She's got mad coloring skills (again the lies..) but she is passionate about it...I'll give her that.  Anyway the sap is back...oh crap...and now I'm poetic...MAKE IT STOP...

Okay we've moved on to BNL which will forever remind me of a road trip to University of Toledo with a guy friend to see them in concert...freshman year of college...shhh my parents don't know (how old am I?)

I've convinced myself I'm probably just not going to sleep tonight...YIKES....these photos are never going to finish uploading....

"This is where we used to live"

Maybe I should make popcorn?  At least the iPhone photos are small and upload quickly its just when I got the fancy camera out and pretending I know what I'm doing...those photos are huge and take for freakin ever...

I'm gonna bail on you now blog world...I need to watch Chuck...I said it out loud and now it must happen....

I'll leave you with this:

Because OH MY HEART IS MELTING....I hate being happy...seriously....

Also:

OK Go- This Too Shall Pass (not a good sign? I was kidding I love being happy...no joke...I'll just cry about it...like a normal overly hormonal person).

BYE!

I hate Dimes

I do, I hate them.  I think the entire financial structure of our country and dare I say it...THE WORLD would continue its inevitable path if there were no dimes.

Going to the vending machine sucks with dimes cause I'm sorry but that .85 cent Snickers...it gets me every time. I am constantly dropping the dime...and then it falls under the machine and then I'm left gazing longingly at my Snickers and I was hungry...and no I didn't want to wait and their marketing gimmick worked on me and now I'm sitting in eternal torture because instead of asking a coworker if I could borrow a dime I walk the walk of shame back to my desk...and sit there un-substantialiscious.  And yes I DID get "substantialiscious" off the back of a Snickers package because I DID find a dime and NO I'm not happy about it.  Except that it was delicious.

I mean...I wont really touch on the subject of the penny or the nickel I have very little issue with them.  And heck the quarter is just down right useful as a coin of currency (beast of burden? eh? no? okay...sigh).  THE DIME...however is so freakin small.  I mean seriously I have average sized hands.  I fit the standard size ring at the jewelry store.  Gloves adorn my hands quite nicely...its not my fault.  Can you imagine if I had Man Hands...yes thats a technical term.  I mean seriously how does someone even carry such small coinage around and not loose it.

I hereby plan to boycott the dime...our days are over.  I will no longer be subjected to its tininess.  IF I need 10 cents I will amass a small collection of pennies and nickels never to be subjected to the feeling of repugnance associated with the D word.

Sorry Franklin D. Roosevelt...I'm sooo over you. From now on I'm contributing quarters to the MoD!

OCD....in every facet of my life.

I apparently have a coupon/cereal obsession...I wonder if they have a rehab for this sort of person.  I really started with good intentions.  I remind myself that "I cannot afford to save that much money" but here I am...3 feet deep in cereal...and I STILL HAVE COUPONS TO USE....and seriously I shouldn't let them go to waste should I?
