We watch that show and Ya Ya regularly as well, but her theme music is much simpler to sing...and theres little to no dancing. (Olivia for those of you who don't speak Bebes).
So last night I was out enjoying some 'angry consumption of appetizers' (which I hope can become a semi annual occurrence) and my child who actually was pretty well behaved started to loose her cool. She had been sitting in her high chair, dipping her entire hand (and a chip) into marinara sauce for about an hour, and clearly it was time for a new activity. We had exhausted the 'use the red onion as a bracelet/hair tie' option as well. It was time to move, we let her out of her high chair and surprisingly she stayed pretty close to our table. There wasn't a ton of managing to be done which was pretty outstanding.
She turned around and saw a picture of Mickey Mouse and all his pals on the wall and all you hear is "MELMO" which is universal for anything that can show up in puppet/animated/dressed up human in a theme park form. Elmo, Mickey Mouse, Goofy etc etc. I instinctively forgot where I was and started clapping my hands (somewhat quietly) and started singing "Hot dog hot dog hot diggity it dog its a brand new day whatcha waiting for" which then continued while my child shook her booty all over the place.
Thankfully it was a Thursday in the middle of nowhere so our restaurant wasn't overly occupied with people staring at me.........but there were people staring at me.
I realized last night that no matter how many margaritas they bring me in a martini glass with an olive????? I'm still going to be a crazy mom who entertains her kids at her own demise... destruction.... humiliation....amusement?
Hot dog! (Hot dog) Hot dog!
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Now we got ears, it's time for cheers
Hot dog, hot dog, the problem's solved
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Grab my boots and a sandwich
Let's start a parade
Get the coconut drum kit
For Daisy to play
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
We're taking off, we're dancing now
Hot dog, leapfrog, and holy cow
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
It's a brand new day Whatcha waiting for?
Get up, stretch out, stomp on the floor
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog
We're splitting the scene We're full of beans
So long for now from Mickey Mouse (That's me!)
And the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
That right there...is a gift...from me to you...may it be stuck in your head ALL DAY LONG TILL THE END OF TIME.
love
xoxo

our standby- to be sung wherever we find ourselves having a bit of a tantrum (ourselves being my son)- is "there was a very silly boy and benjy was his name-o. B-e-n-j-y, B-e-n-j-y, B-e-n-j-y, and Benjy was his name-o" This song has multiple verses and can go on for as long as it takes.
I'm sure the patrons of the bus/bank/grocery store/post office/pizza place really appreciate this song. :)
No totally! We listen to some horrible music to calm my daughter down sometimes. And on more than one occasion...I sing...in public...sigh!
On a complete side note, I checked out your site. My whole family is Finnish, we are EXTREMELY proud of our Finnish heritage. I'm just amused that you found my blog. (My crazy relatives will be so excited haha) I'm also a "very" amateur photographer. Just too strange!
I randomly clicked on your name from one of Hip 2 Save's giveaways and was reading your hysterical rendering of the FBI taking over Ruby Tuesday's. I was about to click off when I noticed the "Hot Dog Hot Dog" business. My husband, who tends to think he is ultra-cool, sings this song, complete with dance, even when our son isn't melting. It might be the most endearing thing I've ever seen about him, he does this at home, in restaurants, in parking lots. Glad to know we aren't the only ones.. :)
