Now that my commute is not a 45 second jut across the street I have the opportunity to listen to the radio in the morning. Most people would kill to have my previous commute but while sometimes frustrating I do rather enjoy a bit of a drive in the morning. Usually the bebes falls asleep in her car seat hugging La Moose (yes that's his name and no she can't talk=I named the moose). For the past week I've been searching channels and trying to find that right station. I cannot stand the classic Chicago shock jock and his barrage of associates...I also can't stand listening to music that has no point. If I'm at a club (yeah um okay) maybe but I want content and purpose in my day. Recently I've been hooked on NPR. Maybe because of the upcoming elections or the financial crisis that I barely understand but still have an vested interest in; I truly feel they just have good slightly un-bias information and I feel that I'm learning and growing as a person when I tune in.
Another reason I've been listening is because the different morning segments are so diverse and so enriching and seriously so ridiculously funny. This morning a presumably old British woman got on and was telling a very serious story about the Somali pirates and their booty...now I know the situation is serious and that pirates are a real threat (although I'm not sure why anyone would be threatened by Jonny Depp)....anyway she said booty and I know that I'm an adult and I shouldn't be so insanely amused by this but come on who doesn't get the giggles when someone says booty. Especially with a British accent! I know its just a nautical term for treasure but who other than Kim Kardashian treasures their booty?
I feel I've completely contradicted myself in the seriousness of my NPR listening but I do really enjoy it and feel like everyday I grow an extra wrinkle in my brain!
